The award ceremony will take place on 27 November 2025 in Rome, during the sixth edition of the Avogadro Colloquia, dedicated this year to the theme “Chemistry for a better life: solutions to health challenges.”
About Paolo Samorì
Prof. Samorì is Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the Université de Strasbourg, where he directs the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) and the Nanochemistry Laboratory.
After graduating in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna (1995) and earning a PhD in Chemistry at Humboldt University of Berlin (2000), he was a researcher at CNR in Bologna (2001–2008) and visiting professor in Strasbourg, before embarking on an international career that has brought him to leading roles in European academic research.
His scientific work focuses on nanoscience and functional nanomaterials – in particular graphene, two-dimensional materials, and supramolecular systems – with applications in optoelectronics, energy, and sensing. He is the author of over 510 scientific publications, with more than 27,800 citations and an h-index of 84 (Scopus).
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the European Academy of Sciences, as well as a member of several prestigious academies, including Academia Europaea, KVAB, IUF, Académie des Technologies de France, and acatech.
Over the course of his career, he has received numerous awards, including the CNRS Silver Medal (2012), the RSC Surfaces and Interfaces Award (2018), the Blaise Pascal Medal in Materials Science (2018), the ERC Advanced Grant (2019), the Étoiles de l’Europe Award (2019), as well as the recent IUMRS-ICEM Mid-career Researcher Award (2024) and the Luigi Tartufari Prize (2024). He also serves as Associate Editor of ACS Nano and sits on the advisory boards of several leading international scientific journals.
