At the GDCh Science Forum 2025, held from September 29 to October 1 at the KTI in Karlsruhe, the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and the German Chemical Society (GDCh) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their partnership.
Through this agreement, SCI joins other leading chemical societies – SCS (Switzerland), ACS (USA), and GÖCH (Austria) – in advancing international collaboration in chemistry.
The five-year MoU sets out a framework for joint activities, including reciprocal participation in each other’s scientific programs, initiatives to engage and support young chemists, and efforts to facilitate global scientific exchange through conferences and symposia. It also provides for joint projects with other societies, particularly within the European Chemical Society (EuChemS), and for continuing shared initiatives that recognize scientific excellence, such as the Ziegler-Natta Lectureship and the Primo Levi Award.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Presidents and Executive Directors of the participating societies. Representing SCI was its President, Gianluca Farinola. Also present was Cristina Femoni, President of the ECTN (European Chemistry Thematic Network).
This partnership underscores SCI’s commitment to strengthening international ties and to promoting chemistry as a driver of sustainability, innovation, and collaboration within the global scientific community.
